Design is not about surface. It’s about substance.
Born in 1963, the designer first trained as a cabinetmaker.
He completed his training with distinction as one of the best graduates in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Afterwards he studied interior design with a focus on product design at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier.
Shortly after his studies, he founded his own studio for product- and furniture design. Together with well-known national and international companies, he has been working on a wide variety of design tasks.
The spectrum of his previous work ranges from industrial- and furniture design to interiordesign and graphic corporate presentations.
Main target of every projekt is to find longlasting solutions, transcend passing trends with the greatest possible balance between function, technology and aesthetics.
The projects have been shown in exhibitions throughout Europe, the USA and China.
He has been awarded several design prizes, including the world’s highest endowed industrial design prize, the „Finland Wood Innovation Price“ awarded by the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs.
His table concept “salem” for Draenert was awarded the “NEUE KLASSIKER“ price by Schöner Wohnen.
